Earache Update
Mar. 14th, 2018 12:57 amI’m glad I decided I’d go into the Urgent Care. I’m glad I did the virtual visit since the woman who saw me was the one who reminded me the Urgent Care was even there and let me know they were open 24/7. I almost didn’t do the virtual visit because I had such a hard time getting the app to work on my phone, but I decided to try on my computer, which after downloading video software, worked perfectly.
The virtual visit person said she would give me a prescription for an antibiotic, but because the symptoms really got started just after I’d finished a round of amoxicillin, I just didn’t think that was the issue. So I bit the bullet. And man, I am super glad I did!
Initially, I made an appointment online which said that they wouldn’t be able to see me until 12:20 am. I waited a bit, but I decided I’d rather wait at the place with my book. It was a good thing too, because no one else that made appointments were there so I was in and out in like 20 minutes and it wasn’t an ear infection so antibiotics wouldn’t have done shit to help me.
As it turns out, it’s more or less sinus aggravation and allergies that led to sinus drainage issues and aggravation of my eustachian tube which can’t currently drain properly so there’s a lot of a liquid stuck and pressing against my eardrum and middle ear which is why I’ve been having the pain and also why I’ve been a bit dizzy here and there. I am feeling better now.
The PA told me to take Allegra-D to fight the allergy aggravation and, hopefully, help dry up some of the excess liquid and drainage. She told me to keep up using the Flonase I’d started using a week or so ago in hopes that would help. And then she wrote me a steroid to take for a couple of days. She didn’t want me to take the steroid last night because it could amp me up and then I wouldn’t be able to sleep. I didn’t take it because as much as I wanted to get to feeling better, I desperately needed the sleep last night. I took some benadryl instead and I slept hard and long and it was glorious. I was ever so thankful. So I took the steroid on my way to work today. Towards the evening, I ended up feeling a little extra hyper plus my heart was beating kind of fast because I wasn’t thinking about being on pseudoephedrine, flonase (a type of steroid), and an oral steroid and what that would do when mixed with my usual amount of caffeine. I’ll need to remember to back off a little tomorrow.
I didn’t get home tonight until around 9 and then I did some laundry, walked the dog, and made my shake for tomorrow. And afterall that, I needed a little while to unwind. Not to mention that the effects of the caffeine and the steroids took some time to settle down. As a result, I really should’ve been in bed an hour and a half ago, but here we are. At least I did get exceptionally good rest last night. Plus I slept in a bit since it was my late night working. Tomorrow should be interesting since I’ve realized it’s not a good idea for me to chug the caffeine all day. Maybe I should make a point to take in some tea so I can have a little boost without the punch to the face I normally make for myself.
Anyway, night y’all.
