The 30 Day topic writing challenge was a good idea. It’s pushed me to at least put a few words down each day. They aren’t particularly complex or complicated or anything and they don’t have a minimum word requirement though some of them have requested a list of so many things. Still, not something feels taxing or presses into my feelings of stress.

I want to get some writing on my story written tonight and at the same time I want to read. I stayed up too late last night and I thought to myself, at some point today, that I should go to bed early tonight. And then do you know what I thought next? I thought, “eh, I just have to make it through one day before I get to sleep in again.” I am pretty sure that is not a normal healthy response to the question of getting sleep. I should, at the very least, go to sleep at a reasonable time since I have to get up and shower in the morning before I go to work. I’d like to try to get out of that, but I didn’t put on deodorant yesterday so I’m pretty sure I have a bit of funk going on. Plus it’s always good to start fresh. And if I’m really lucky, I won’t have to shower again until before work on Saturday since I'm off on Friday. I'm also seriously tempted to take a sick day, but I really shouldn't call in sick if I'm not sick... right?

I’m looking forward to working on Sunday. Sunday mornings the library is closed so you actually get to spend about four hours straight and uninterrupted working on on any projects and paperwork you might have. I haven’t had a Sunday morning work day in a while because the last Sunday I would’ve worked the library was closed for the Christmas holiday. And I only work every third Sunday anyway. I know other people don’t like it. Kim finds a way to make up the hours other places so she doesn’t have to come in Sunday until we open at 1 pm, but I really like it. It’s an easy commute day and then four solid hours of getting to listen to my headphones and work in the office. It’s pretty much heaven in my opinion.

We’re getting a new person in a few weeks to replace the woman who retired right before the turn of the New Year. I’m hoping they put her in the Adult Reference office and not in the Teen Office so that I still have the Teen office to myself on Sunday mornings. I guess we’ll see! There are only three of us in the Teen office and there would be four in the adult reference office but they do have more computers than us. The office is smaller, I think, but we have a lot of stuff stored in there too. It’s kind of fun and I feel like Hayley, Jonathan, and I all have really good work chemistry. I’m curious to see what the dynamic will be like with the new person. And then with North County shutting down in a few months for renovations, I suppose it’s possible that some of their staff could be working at our branch for a little while. I know we could use the help with the outreach programs and such so I’m sure the branch manager would happily accept the help. I’ll be interested to see if that happens and if so what effect that has on the branch chemistry in general. There are like four new part time aides coming too, so I’m looking forward to that as well.

Okay well I’m going to attempt to write a little more on my story before my computer runs out of battery. I could mess about with getting the cord to plug it in, but I think I’m better using the battery I have and then heading to bed.
