Summary: A brief look at Kono's mind when she's watching McGarrett and Hesse meet.

Steve had asked Kono not to kill Hesse, and he was the one person who had more reason to want Hesse dead than she did. The risk of inadvertently setting off the bomb finalized her decision not to kill Hesse in cold blood. No, "cold blood" wasn't right. Her blood felt like lava - thick, hot, destructive. But fury could make her blind. Breathe. Chin needed her. For years she had needed him, needed him as her protector, teacher, friend, and, more recently, teammate. For the first time, he needed her. She would not fail him.

Settle. Aim. Breathe. Pull.

I love her. I'd like to do more on her and I probably will (eventually) when I run out of steam on my Danny/Steve kick. Have you read purple_spock 's drabble as well?
