I realize that I'm a little late in writing about this, but I just now got around to watching the second half of the season finale. I do that sometimes with finales, honestly I waited at least three weeks to watch the finale of Warehouse 13 SSN2 and I am IN LOVE with WH13. Also, I was getting a little overzealous with my in paragraph parentheses side bar rants so I put them as notes at the bottom and just left numbers for reference in the text.

I like Covert Affairs in general, it's a fun show and I like Annie. My only trouble with the show is romantic aspect of it. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of long lost true loves (1). I can believe that Annie would be hung up on Ben two years later. I can believe that Ben left the agency for reasons that probably culminated with falling for Annie. But, for reasons I'm still trying to figure out, I have not been desperate for them to get together. I don't know if they never planned to keep them together or if they were going to put them together and found that other viewers feel as I do.

They may be using the suggested ending of SSN1 as a test (2) to see how viewers would respond if Ben left the picture more permanently (3) . I would imagine there are some Jai fans out there, and I'm not opposed to that pairing as I think there is a good story line available there.

But personally, it's Annie and Auggie that have captured me, it has been from the start. My favorite scene may be the moment when Annie tells Auggie, against protocol), she's going as Ben's handler and Auggie is ready to fight his superiors. His admission that he is protective of her practically squeezed my heart. I saw more spark in the kiss on the cheek Annie gives Auggie than any of the "hot" scenes between Annie and Ben in their remote beach front cabin. Maybe it is because the actors have spent more time working together that there seems to be better chemistry between Annie and Auggie than Annie and Ben, but then again, maybe it's only me that sees the chemistry that way. I am curious to see where they go with Annie's love life. Who knows, they may write in someone entirely new. I used to wonder if Sharon in "Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place" would end up with Pete or Berg and then they wrote in Johnny (4) and she ended up with him instead. So I guess we'll see.
  1. In fiction at any rate, you can imagine how I felt about the idea behind Letters to Juliet.
  2. If you can't figure out why I say “suggested ending”, I recommend watching the finales of Bones SSN 3 & 4, WH13 SSN1, or In Plain Sight SSN 2 then watching the first episode of the next season.
  3. Of course it may just be because the theory is that a show with a cliff hanger is more likely to get renewed and bring viewers back.
  4. Ohhhh Nathan Fillion, how I love you.

I don't really have writers block at the moment, this question caught my eye because it has popped into my mind on a number of previous occasions. They'd probably think I was a love lorn teen with her head in the clouds, which may or may not be accurate depending on the day and whether or not someone can be a teen in spirit.
